Accountable governance crucial to safe and productive labour force

Dear Members,

This year Labour Week will be observed under the theme “Accountable governance crucial to safe and productive labour force”. The observance commences on Sunday 25th April, 2021 with a Wreath Laying Ceremony on the Lawns of Parliament Building at 4:00 pm.  Each participating Union will lay one wreath and have not more than two (2) representatives in attendance. A short address will follow.

The Guyana Public Service Union will be participating in this activity and Bro. Kemton Alexander, General Secretary (ag) would be laying a wreath on behalf of the Union.

The Union will commemorate May Day 2021 in a fashion consistent with the national Covid-19 guidelines.

A determination of activities for this event would be deliberated upon at a Statutory Executive Council Meeting on April 27, 2021 after which members would be communicated with, accordingly.

In the interim, the Union wrote His Excellency Irfaan Ali to provide each public servant with a meal, beverage and token or alternatively, a monetary donation of $5,000.00. We are awaiting a response.

In solidarity,

Kemton Alexander

General Secretary (ag)
